Westervelt Warner Museum

The Westervelt Warner Museum of American Art in Tuscaloosa houses one of the world's finest collections of American paintings, sculpture, furniture and decorative arts that date from the late 18th to the beginning of the 20th century. The museum can be accessed from the Apothecary Lounge across a scenic foot bridge overlooking the lake and a scenic wooded ravine. Containing more than 400 pieces, it was all collected by industrialist and philanthropist Jonathan Westervelt Warner, who is often on-hand to provide a unique insight into this unbelievable collection.

The collection includes portraits of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette, for which the subjects actually sat. You will also find silver fashioned by Paul Revere, furniture designed and made by Duncan Phyfe, Charles Honore Lannuier and Joseph Barry among others.

Among the exhibits are hundreds of paintings, sculptures, artifacts and antiques by world-renowned artists such as:

James A. McNeill

John Singer Sargent
Frederic E. Church
